  • Performance

A red 2021 Nissan GT-R is driving on a road past blurred trees.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R is available with two different powertrain options. The standard engine is a 3.8-liter DOHC 24-valve twin-turbo V6, which produces 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, giving drivers incredible amounts of performance power for a production-tuned sports car. The 3.8-liter V6 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.7 seconds flat and does so through an extra quick 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

For even more power, the Nissan GT-R NISMO comes with a specially tuned version of the standard engine that provides drivers with up to 600 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque. This added power enables the GT-R to achieve acceleration times of 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 2.5 seconds, making it one of the top-performing vehicles in its class when it comes to acceleration and drag racing.

    Handcrafted Perfection

Both Nissan GT-R powertrains are specifically hand-assembled by one of only five master craftsmen at the plant, ensuring that every engine that goes into this supercar-tier vehicle is one of a kind and designed to achieve impeccable performance feats.

The 2021 GT-R engines make use of continuously variable valve timing control systems to increase fuel efficiency and reduce energy waste. The engine is also designed for strength and longevity thanks to the use of a closed-deck block with a ladder frame for reinforcement. This provides the durability needed to stand up to the pressure generated by the large turbos.

    Supercar Transmission

The 6-speed dual-clutch transmission enables drivers to modify the way the GT-R shifts thanks to three distinct drive modes, so you can customize the driving experience based on what feels most comfortable on the road or track. For those of you who would prefer to control the way the vehicle shifts, the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters allow you to upshift and downshift while keeping both hands on the wheel. Both trims come with the GT-R's iconic all-wheel drive system with patented independent rear-mounted transaxle and a 1.5-way mechanical rear limited-slip differential for maximum performance.

This kind of special care put into designing and engineering the powertrain of the 2021 Nissan GT-R helps to keep the car running in perfect order even under the most strenuous conditions. Thanks to secondary intake and a pressurized lubrication system, the GT-R is expertly engineered to increase cooling and reduce heating, making it one of the few cars you can take straight from the showroom to the race track.

  • Technology

The dashboard and screen are shown in a 2021 Nissan GT-R.

When people think about technology, they often think about electronics and software capabilities. But sometimes, the technology that helps define (or redefine) the performance of the vehicle is how it's applied to the material design of the vehicle and its powertrain.

    Advanced Aero

The aerodynamic technology that aids the GT-R in achieving its peak performance is found in a number of different features, both visual and architectural. While you won't see it unless you put the car up on a lift, even the underbody has been carefully sculpted for maximum aerodynamics. The smooth surface underneath channels air to cool the brakes and even includes a rear carbon-fiber diffuser for increased downforce.

The NISMO trim comes with specially designed carbon-fiber front and rear fascias, side sills, and a rear spoiler for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. The NISMO trim also comes with additional carbon-fiber components such as a trunk lid, hood, and roof for reduced weight.

    Body Design

Both trims feature carbon-composite radiator support as well as a carbon-fiber engine chassis brace and a Fujitsubo titanium exhaust with exhaust sound control. Some additional standard features include an acoustic windshield with UV-reducing solar glass so that the cabin of the Nissan GT-R remains quiet and comfortable while protecting drivers and passengers alike from harmful UV rays.

    Convenience Features

The 2021 Nissan GT-R makes use of the Nissan vehicle immobilization system to protect it against theft, in addition to having a vehicle security system that works to deter potential theft. Additional safety technologies such as the Nissan advanced airbag system with dual-stage deployment comes standard, along with driver and passenger-side seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted curtain supplemental airbags.

Technological convenience features are also standard for the 2021 Nissan GT-R, such as dual-zone automatic temperature control, variable intermittent windshield wipers that are sensitive to the speed of the car, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Homelink universal transceiver allows for remote access to the GT-R, and there is convenient push-button ignition thanks to the Nissan Intelligent Key.

  • Interior

The brown interior is shown in a 2021 Nissan GT-R.

Inside the 2021 Nissan GT-R, drivers and passengers are greeted with a high-quality, performance-ready instrument cluster, tech-savvy connectivity features, and lots of high-quality comfort amenities. The GT-R includes a telescoping steering column with easy viewing of the integrated electronic gauges, simple access to front cup-holders, and seating for up to four people.

    Speed and Style

The Premium trim comes with leather-appointed front seats with synthetic suede inserts, but hand-stitched semi-aniline leather seats are available. The NISMO trim is equipped with Recaro leather-appointed bucket seats with the inclusion of synthetic suede inserts.

Both trims come standard with an 8-way power driver seat and 4-way power front passenger seat. The center console is lavished with a leather-wrapped gearshift knob and parking brake lever. Carbon-fiber and machined aluminum interior trimming are also standard on both trims, along with aluminum sport pedals, while the NISMO trim receives an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel for those who want the ultimate display of performance luxury within their souped-up supercar.

    Electronics

The GT-R's 8-inch infotainment screen offers six different performance pages that display everything from current turbo boost pressure to lap time. It also offers all the standard infotainment features, allowing drivers and passengers to quickly and easily browse through popular in-vehicle apps and connectivity services.

With the Nissan Navigation System, you never have to worry about getting lost, even if you don't have your phone with you. With it, you can easily plot and navigate your way to your destination or make use of the SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link software suite to chart your routes based on detailed weather information, current traffic, and points of interest.

As is standard with most new model year vehicles, the 2021 Nissan GT-R comes fully equipped with Bluetooth hands-free phone access, including a voice-activated text messaging assistant and voice recognition software for audio and app activation. It also comes with the highly popular Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone integration.

    Sound

Thanks to the active sound enhancement and noise cancellation, you can enjoy all of your media, podcasts, and other media within the GT-R through the premium Bose audio system. This system has 11 speakers and dual subwoofers for a complete surround sound audio experience. With wheel-mounted audio controls and speed-sensitive volume control, it means that you never have to take your eyes off the road to enjoy the audio and infotainment features available in the 2021 Nissan GT-R.
