If you’re thinking about a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle, then come visit us at Newton Nissan South and see what we can do for you. Not really sure what makes Certified Pre-Owned vehicles different from regular used vehicles? We can help answer that. When it comes down to it, a CPO vehicle is one that is less than a certain amount of years old, has less than a certain number of miles, and comes backed by manufacturer warranties and maybe some other perks. A CPO vehicle also goes through a rigorous inspection before it can qualify as certified.
What’s great about choosing a CPO as your next vehicle is you get a practically like-new car at a great price that is sure to fit right into your budget. Because who doesn’t love a great deal? So if you’re in the market for a new or used car but can’t quite decide, think about getting a Certified Pre-Owned model and get the best of both worlds without the heavy price tag. When you choose to go with a CPO from Nissan, you know without a doubt you’re getting top quality at the best price, and we would be happy to walk you through all the amazing CPO options we currently have.
The idea of a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sounds like a good one, but why choose Nissan? The better question is, why wouldn’t you? When you decide to go with a Nissan CPO, you’re getting the assurance of a manufacturer’s warranty, which means you’re getting the security of Nissan, a brand known for quality, safe, and dependable vehicles.
When a Nissan vehicle is going through the process to be sold as a Certified Pre-Owned model, in order to qualify, the vehicle must be less than six years old and have less than 80,000 miles on it. Once a vehicle passes those qualifications, it moves on to the second round, where the vehicle’s history is considered to ensure it hasn’t been involved in any serious accidents. It also undergoes a 167-point inspection by a qualified Nissan technician to make sure nothing is overlooked, assuring buyers that what they are buying is exactly what is advertised.
On top of that, each CPO comes with a 7-year / 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. The warranty gives drivers the assurance that when you need help, Nissan is there. If you get a flat tire or your battery suddenly dies, Nissan has you covered with Roadside Assistance. With Roadside Assistance, they’ll even help you out if you need to have your vehicle towed or need to cover the cost of renting a car. Plus, every Nissan Certified Pre-Owned vehicle comes with a CARFAX Vehicle History Report and a 3-Year Buyback Guarantee.
If nothing else, buying a Nissan Certified Pre-Owned vehicle alleviates the risk or stress that buyers can feel when they choose a used vehicle. A CPO has you covered in more ways than one, giving drivers that choose to go with Nissan peace of mind that they’re making the smart choice when it comes to buying their next vehicle.

What’s the difference between Nissan's CPO program and its competitors? Well, each automaker’s program can have different guidelines, which makes it worth your time to explore the benefits and setbacks of various auto manufacturers CPO programs to make sure you’re getting the very best value when it comes to buying a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle.
We already know that Nissan offers a 7-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. So how does that stack up to the other brands? When you look at some of the other big names, GMC offers drivers a 6-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty with their CPOs. The GMC warranty also includes Roadside Assistance, which is a great perk. A GMC vehicle also has to be less than six years old and undergo a 172-point inspection.
There are also plenty of programs that are confusing or lackluster. Take, for instance, Volkswagen’s CPO comprehensive limited warranties. All VW CPOs go through a 100-point inspection. They have three different options for vehicles of different years and miles. So, for example, a VW model 2017 and older has a 2-year or 24,000-mile (whichever comes first) comprehensive limited warranty. But between 2018 and 2019, they have a reduced warranty of only 1-year or 12,000-miles. The last one, for vehicles 2020 and older, is a 2-year or 24,000-mile warranty. All three warranties cover Roadside Assistance and have a $50 deductible per dealer visit.
Looking at Ford, it offers a 7-year /100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, and its Roadside Assistance lasts for the duration of the warranty. There are also plenty of average warranties out there from the likes of popular brands like Volvo, which offers CPOs that are five years old or less, have less than 80,000, and undergoes a 170-point inspection on its Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. Volvo offers Roadside Assistance, and the warranty is fully transferable.
So while some warranty points seem pretty standard, CPO warranties can vary from dealer to dealer with no real uniform, highlighting the fact that it’s always important to check out what exactly your CPO warranty includes because, as illustrated, there are good points and poor ones depending on the manufacturer, which is another reason to go with Nissan. With Nissan CPO vehicles, drivers always know their vehicle is looking out for them every step of the way.
