Tires stacked next to eachother

Why is tire rotation important? It’s a common question. Rotating your tires as part of your scheduled vehicle maintenance has many cost-saving and safety benefits.

Some of the Benefits of Tire Rotation Include:

  • it helps maintain an even amount of tread wear on all 4 tires
  • extends the life of your tires
  • improved gas mileage
  • smoother ride

All of these benefits save you money, both short term (gas money) and long term (protecting your suspension). Also, during tire rotation, your service advisor is able to look over the undercarriage components and catch any problems in the very early stages, which can also save you money.

Maintain your Warranty Protection

Tire companies usually require regular tire rotation in order to keep the warranty valid. An easy way to remember is to rotate your tires whenever you get your oil changed. While this is a good recommendation, ask your service advisor or call us at Newton Nissan South for advice on when to have your tires rotated for your specific vehicle and tire type.

Remember: Lack of Tire Rotation is the #1 cause of irregular wear.
Whether you are doing the job at home or bringing your vehicle into Newton Nissan South to have one of our professionals do the work for you, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Rotate your tires at every other oil change or every 5000 miles
  • Follow the guidelines in your vehicle’s owner manual
  • When the tread depth on your tires differs greatly, you should always place the tires with the most amount of tread on the back.

Although regularly rotating your tires can help to maintain an even amount of wear, it can not fix irregular wear caused by faulty or worn mechanical parts, improper inflation pressures or alignment issues.
